Victims of Sexual Violence
Hearing the stories of rape victims for the first time in D.R. Congo, I literally could not sleep, not only that night, but for months to come. To be aware of these brutal violations is to be haunted by the sad faces of the victims, as well as those of their children.
This “Victims of Sexual Violence” ministry arose to help address the destitution and poverty of these ladies whose chastity and honor have been stolen, along with their acceptance in their communities. Rejected and spurned, too many of them have little choice but to resort to the age-old survival tactic of desperate women: prostitution. It is the object of His Missions to help provide them not only food and medical assistance, but also vocational training that will enable them to become self-sufficient. The most important thing this ministry wishes to convey to them is assurance of their value to our loving Savior who has a future and a sense of renewed hope for them.
The ladies of the Women’s Wellness Center (WoW center) are received with the open arms of Jesus by the staff members of this center for victims of sexual violence. The ladies are given trauma counseling, food and care for them and their children and given the chance to learn a vocation through the sewing center.
Please help us to keep this center in Goma, DR Congo for violated women up and running. Please help us to minister to the victims of sexual violence in many other countries of the world.
