Education Ministry
Education is often referred to as the great equalizer: It can open the door to jobs, resources, and skills that help a person not only survive, but thrive. In fact, according to UNESCO, if all students in low-income countries had just basic reading skills (nothing else), an estimated 171 million people could escape extreme poverty. If all adults completed secondary education, we could cut the global poverty rate by more than half.
At its core, a quality education supports a child’s developing social, emotional, cognitive, and communication skills. Children who attend school also gain knowledge and skills, often at a higher level than those who aren’t in the classroom. They can then use these skills to earn higher incomes and build successful lives.
His Missions International supports ministries that not only provide an excellent education for children to escape poverty but teaches them the Gospel of Jesus Christ so they can live their lives experiencing the Love that God has for them. Teaching children about God’s great love and sacrifice for them can change a whole generation.
Areas that His Missions International (HMI) is providing Christian education for children and young men and women:
- HMI is providing tuition for young men from juvenile prisons to go to school in Kenya.
In many parts of Africa there is a large number of boys that live on the streets due to poverty or being abandoned. HMI has been given favor from the Lord to partner with a ministry that receives young men from juvenile prisons in Kenya. These young men are discipled in the gospel and given the chance to change their lives. Many of them have gone on to college and many have received training in a vocation. - HMI is providing vocational training for young girls from both the community and from juvenile prisons in Kenya
Vocational training for young girls in poor communities saves them from a life of poverty and abuse. HMI is privileged to support a vocational school that gives young girls a marketable skill. This training, along with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, is a powerful witness to change the communities where these young girls live. - HMI is supporting a live-in Christian school that takes in abandoned and abused children from several different countries in East Africa.
HMI supports a school in Kenya that is educating 250 day-students and live-in students representing 9 nationalities in Africa. Many of these children are abused and most are abandoned and would otherwise be trafficked or sold into prostitution if not for this ministry. - HMI is supporting an awesome ministry that is building Christian schools in poor neighborhoods.
This ministry has the gained the favor of the government of Rwanda is allowed to build Christian schools next to poor communities. Without these Christian schools the children in these communities would be destined for a live of poverty. At each school campus a well is drilled and a church is built. This ministry then evangelizes the community next to school. This ministry feeds over a thousand people every day. God is using our support to help change a whole country with the Gospel of Jesus Christ! - Providing tuition and supplies for the children of Leprosy patients in India that are too poor to attend school and are ostracized by the community.
Many children of leprosy patients in India live with their parents or grandparents in a leprosy colony.
The children do not have leprosy but are ostracized and society labels them as unclean. Many children are too poor to afford the tuition necessary to attend a good school and the government schools do not want them. So HMI helps provide tuition and school supplies for these children to attend a good Christian school. Many will graduate from high school or vocational schools and have a chance to escape the poverty in the leprosy colonies.
